A Presidenta Dilma Rousseff participará, em 29 de junho, em Assunção, Paraguai, da XLI Cúpula de Presidentes dos Estados Partes do MERCOSUL e Estados Associados. A reunião será precedida, no dia 28, da XLI Reunião Ordinária do Conselho do Mercado Comum, em que têm assento os Ministros das Relações Exteriores, da Fazenda e do Desenvolvimento, Indústria e Comércio Exterior.

Entre os resultados esperados para a Cúpula, encontram-se a adoção do Plano Estratégico de Ação Social do MERCOSUL (PEAS), o estabelecimento de novas regras que permitirão a plena retomada dos trabalhos do Parlamento do MERCOSUL e a aprovação, no âmbito do Fundo de Convergência Estrutural do MERCOSUL (FOCEM), de projeto conjunto dos quatro Estados Partes sobre pesquisa, educação e biotecnologia aplicadas à saúde.

A Cúpula representará, também, oportunidade para reflexão sobre o futuro. O Alto Representante-Geral do MERCOSUL, Embaixador Samuel Pinheiro Guimarães, contribuirá com o processo de construção de uma visão estratégica para o MERCOSUL.

O comércio total entre os Estados Partes do MERCOSUL continua em franca expansão, tendo alcançado em 2010 a cifra de US$ 44,55 bilhões, dos quais US$ 39,22 bilhões referem-se ao intercâmbio total do Brasil com os sócios. Nos primeiros cinco meses de 2011, o comércio do Brasil com os sócios alcançou US$ 17,9 bilhões, um volume 27% superior ao registrado no mesmo período do ano passado.

No encerramento da Cúpula de Assunção, a Presidência Pro Tempore do MERCOSUL será transmitida ao Uruguai.

On 29 June, in Asunción, Paraguay, President Dilma Rousseff will take part in the 41st Summit of Presidents from MERCOSUR State Parties and Associated States. The meeting will be preceded, on the 28, by the 41st Ordinary Meeting of the Common Market Council, at which the Ministers of External Relations, of Economy and of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade sit.

The adoption of the MERCOSUR Strategic Plan for Social Action (PEAS), the establishment of new rules so that the MERCOSUR Parliament may fully resume work and the approval, within the MERCOSUR Structural Convergence Fund (FOCEM), of a joint project between the four State Parties on research, education and biotechnology are among the expected results.

The Summit will also present an opportunity for a reflection on the road ahead. MERCOSUR High Representative-General, Ambassador Samuel Pinheiro Guimarães, will contribute with the construction process of a strategic vision for MERCOSUR.

Total trade among MERCOSUR State Parties is still expanding steadily, having reached US$ 44.55 billion in 2010, US$ 39.22 of which are Brazil’s total exchanges with the partners. In the first five months of 2011, Brazil’s trade with the partners reached US$ 17.9 billion, 27% over the recorded amount in the same period last year.

At the end of the Summit, the MERCOSUL Pro Tempore Presidency will be passed on to Uruguay.
