Será realizada em Manaus, no dia 22 de novembro, a XI Reunião de Ministros das Relações Exteriores dos Países Membros da Organização do Tratado de Cooperação Amazônica (OTCA). A reunião será presidida pelo Ministro Antonio de Aguiar Patriota.

Fundada em 1998, com o objetivo de estruturar as atividades ao amparo do Tratado de Cooperação Amazônica e de promover o desenvolvimento sustentável da região, a OTCA é a única organização internacional sediada em Brasília. São membros da Organização os oito países sul-americanos que compartilham a Amazônia: Brasil, Bolívia, Colômbia, Equador, Guiana, Peru, Suriname e Venezuela.

Na reunião, serão examinados temas da agenda da OTCA, relacionados a meio ambiente, saúde, turismo e ciência e tecnologia e inclusão social das populações amazônicas.

Os países membros iniciarão, também, diálogo sobre a contribuição da Organização para a Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre Desenvolvimento Sustentável (Rio+20).

The 11th Meeting of Ministers of External Relations of the Member Countries of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) will be held on 22 November, in Manaus.  The meeting will be chaired by Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota.

Established in 1998, with the goal of providing a structure for the activities under the Amazon Cooperation Treaty and promoting sustainable development in the region, ACTO is the only international organization hosted in Brasília.  The Organization comprises the 8 South American countries which share in the Amazon region: Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.

In the meeting, issues in the ACTO agenda will be addressed, such as environment, health, tourism, science and technology and social inclusion of Amazon peoples.

The member countries will also start a dialogue on the Organization’s contribution to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20).
