O Ministro das Relações Exteriores, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, realizará visita oficial a Windhoek no dia 23 de julho, quando manterá reunião de trabalho com o Ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros da Namíbia, Utoni Daniel Nujoma.

Os Chanceleres discutirão o aprofundamento da cooperação bilateral em diversos setores, inclusive segurança alimentar e organização de eleições. Avaliarão, igualmente, os resultados alcançados durante a II Reunião da Comissão Mista Brasil-Namíbia, realizada em Windhoek este ano.

A parceria na área naval entre Brasil e Namíbia é considerada exemplo de cooperação sul-sul. O Brasil participou do levantamento da plataforma continental marítima da Namíbia para relatório à Comissão de Limites da ONU. Navios e lanchas de patrulha foram fabricados no Brasil para a Marinha da Namíbia.

O comércio bilateral está crescendo com a intensificação das relações entre os dois países. Passou de US$ 3,8 milhões em 2002 para mais de US$ 52 milhões em 2009. Até junho de 2011, o intercâmbio foi de 7,6 milhões.

The Minister of External Relations, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, will make an official visit to Windhoek on 23 July, when he will hold a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Namibia, Utoni Daniel Nujoma.

The Foreign Ministers will discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including food security and elections organization. They will also assess the results reached at the 2nd Meeting of the Brazil-Namibia Joint Commission, held in Windhoek this year.

The naval partnership between Brazil and Namibia is considered a prime example of South-South cooperation. Brazil took part in the survey of Namibia’s continental shelf for a report to the United Nations Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf. Patrol motor boats and ships were made in Brazil for Namibia’s navy.

Bilateral trade, which has expanded with the intensification of the relationship between both countries, increased from US$ 3.8 million in 2002 to US$ 52 million in 2009. From January to June 2011, trade exchange reached US$ 7.6 million.
