(English version available after the original in Portuguese) O Ministro Celso Amorim realizará visita oficial ao Haiti em 29 e 30 de setembro.

Na ocasião, manterá reuniões com o Presidente René Préval, com o Primeiro-Ministro Jean-Max Bellerive, com a Ministra dos Negócios Estrangeiros do Haiti, Marie-Michèle Rey, com o Representante Especial do Secretário-Geral das Nações Unidas, Edmond Mulet, e com o Comandante militar da Missão das Nações Unidas para Estabilização do Haiti (MINUSTAH), General Luiz Guilherme Paul Cruz. O Ministro das Relações Exteriores deverá avistar-se também com o Diretor-Geral do Conselho Eleitoral Provisório. Nesses encontros, deverão ser examinados os progressos do processo de reconstrução pós-terremoto, a evolução da cooperação prestada pelo Brasil, a contribuição da MINUSTAH para a segurança e estabilidade do país, além das perspectivas para as eleições de 28 de novembro.

Ao Presidente Préval, o Ministro Amorim deverá entregar formalmente o estudo técnico elaborado pelo Exército brasileiro com vistas à construção da barragem e hidrelétrica de Artibonite, projeto aprovado pela Comissão Interina para Reconstrução do Haiti em agosto passado, juntamente com o projeto de cooperação Brasil – Haiti – Cuba na área de saúde.

O Ministro Celso Amorim visitará, ainda, a sede do projeto “Coleta de Resíduos Sólidos – Carrefour Feuilles”, implementado com recursos do Fundo Índia – Brasil – África do Sul (IBAS), bem como a sede do projeto “Kay Nou”, coordenado pelo Viva Rio na localidade de Bel-Air.

Deverão ser assinados novos instrumentos de cooperação técnica com o Haiti, em áreas como fortalecimento institucional, saúde, meio ambiente, cultura e defesa civil.

Minister Celso Amorim to visit Haiti – Port-au-Prince, 29 and 30 September, 2010

Minister Celso Amorim will make an official visit to Haiti on 29 and 30 September, 2010.

During the visit, Minister Celso Amorim will hold meetings with President René Préval, with Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti, Marie-Michèle Rey, with the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Edmond Mulet, and with the Force Commander of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), General Luiz Guilherme Paul Cruz. Minister Celso Amorim will also meet with the Director-General of Haiti’s Interim Election Commission. At these meetings, the progress of the post-earthquake reconstruction process, the evolution of the Brazilian cooperation, the MINUSTAH contribution to safety and security in Haiti and the outlook for the 28 November elections will be assessed.

Minister Celso Amorim will formally deliver to President Préval a technical study on the construction of the Artibonite hydroelectric dam, carried out by the Brazilian Army and approved by the Interim Haiti Reconstruction Commission last August, together with the Brazil-Haiti-Cuba cooperation project on health.

Minister Celso Amorim will also visit the headquarters of the “Collection of Solid Waste – Carrefour Feuilles” project, implemented with funding from the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Fund, as well as the headquarters of the “Kay Nou” project, coordinated by Viva Rio in Bel-Air.

New technical cooperation instruments will be signed with Haiti, in areas such as institutional strengthening, health, environment, culture and civil construction.
