Em seguimento à visita a oito países europeus, o Ministro Celso Amorim realizou visita oficial à Sófia, em 23 de junho, a primeira de um Chanceler brasileiro à Bulgária.

O Ministro manteve encontros com o Primeiro Ministro, Boyko Borissov; o Ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros, Nikolay Mladenov; e com a Presidente da Assembléia Nacional, Tsetska Tsacheva.

Os dois Chanceleres discutiram temas de interesse bilateral, especialmente na área de comércio, investimentos e energia renovável.  Exploraram formas de incrementar o comércio entre os dois países, como a organização de missões empresariais, e analisaram temas da agenda internacional e regional. Concordaram em dar impulso à cooperação entre as academias diplomáticas e na área cultural. No início de agosto será realizado em Varna, no Mar Negro, o III Festival da Cultura Brasileira.

Na oportunidade, os Chanceleres emitiram a seguinte Declaração Conjunta:

"Having met on 22-23 June, 2010, in Sofia, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Republic of Bulgaria agreed on the following Communiqué:

The Federative Republic of Brazil and the Republic of Bulgaria have long enjoyed a fruitful and friendly relationship.

The visit of H.E. Minister Celso Amorim to Sofia, to meet with his counterpart, H.E. Minister Nickolay Mladenov, and other high level authorities, being the highest level visit so far from Brazil to Bulgaria, represents a welcome development in our bilateral relations.

On this occasion, we have had the opportunity to further the understanding of our countries’ perspectives on a number of bilateral and multilateral issues, thus contributing to an improved relationship on all the instances, regional and global, where Brazil and Bulgaria have to contribute to reach decisions that affect the interests of the international community.

Both Ministers agreed that the partnership between Brazil and Bulgaria can play a positive role in advancing economic, social and cultural opportunities in South East Europe, as well as strengthening the inter-regional relationship between the Balkans and Latin America.

Having in mind this fruitful relationship, and the need to facilitate cultural and commercial exchanges, we also have agreed to accelerate the ongoing negotiations of bilateral Agreements on Economic Cooperation and on Education and Cultural Cooperation as well as on other subjects of interest to both parties.
