O Ministro Antonio de Aguiar Patriota realizará visita ao Haiti em 12 e 13 de fevereiro, quando se reunirá com o Presidente René Préval, com o Primeiro-Ministro Jean-Max Bellerive e com os candidatos à Presidência Mirlande Manigat e Michel Martelly. O Ministro manterá contatos, também, com a Missão das Nações Unidas para Estabilização do Haiti (MINUSTAH).

Serão examinados, na ocasião, o andamento do processo eleitoral atualmente em curso no Haiti, a evolução dos projetos de cooperação conduzidos pelo Brasil e a contribuição da MINUSTAH para a segurança e estabilidade do país.

O Ministro Antonio Patriota deverá, ainda, anunciar a contribuição brasileira de US$ 300 mil, alocados em 2010, para a realização do segundo turno das eleições haitianas. Os recursos serão repassados às autoridades eleitorais haitianas por meio do Programa das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento (PNUD).

Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will make an official visit to Haiti on 12 and 13 February, 2011.  He will meet with President René Preval, Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive and presidential candidates Mirlande Manigat and Michel Martelly.

He will also meet with officials from the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), in particular Force Commander General Luiz Guilherme Paul Cruz and the Commanders of the Brazilian Battalions (BRABATT) in Haiti.  At these meetings, they will go over the ongoing electoral process in Haiti, the evolution of the cooperation projects headed by Brazil and MINUSTAH’s contribution for security and stability in the country.

Minister Patriota will also announce a US$ 300,000 donation from Brazil, earmarked in 2010, the United Nations Development Program, which will be used to assist in the organization of the second round of Haiti’s presidential election.  The amount will be transferred to Haitian officials via the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
