O Ministro Antonio de Aguiar Patriota realizará visita oficial ao Haiti no dia 11 de julho de 2011.

Na ocasião, manterá reuniões com o Presidente Michel Martelly e com o Representante Especial do Secretário-Geral das Nações Unidas no Haiti, Embaixador Mariano Fernández. Nesses encontros deverão ser abordados os principais temas da agenda bilateral, incluindo a ajuda brasileira ao processo de reconstrução, a cooperação técnica e a assistência humanitária prestadas ao país e a atuação do Brasil no âmbito da Missão das Nações Unidas para a Estabilização no Haiti (MINUSTAH).

O Brasil lidera o componente militar da MINUSTAH desde 2004, além de contribuir com o maior contingente de tropas da Missão. O Governo brasileiro também tem implementado diferentes iniciativas em apoio à reconstrução do Haiti, que ainda enfrenta as consequências do terremoto de janeiro de 2010.

Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will make an official visit to Haiti on 11 July 2011.

During the visit, Minister Patriota will meet with President Michel Martelly and with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Haiti, Ambassador Mariano Fernández. At the meetings, the main issues on the bilateral agenda will be addressed, including Brazilian aid to the reconstruction process, technical cooperation and humanitarian assistance offered to the country and Brazil’s participation in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

Brazil has held the military command of MINUSTAH since 2004, besides being the largest contributor of troops to the Mission. The Brazilian Government has also implemented various initiatives to support Haiti’s reconstruction, while the country still deals with the aftermath of the January 2010 earthquake.
