A Presidenta Dilma Rousseff realizará visita de trabalho, no dia 30 de maio, a Montevidéu, para dar continuidade ao diálogo com o Presidente José Mujica sobre temas de interesse comum.

Além de examinarem assuntos da agenda global e regional, os dois presidentes discutirão o andamento dos principais projetos da agenda bilateral. Receberá atenção prioritária dos Presidentes o conjunto de iniciativas e obras de infra-estrutura que pretendem criar novo dinamismo no processo de desenvolvimento integrado do norte uruguaio e da metade sul do Rio Grande do Sul, em particular a construção de uma nova ponte sobre o Rio Jaguarão, a reativação da interconexão ferroviária e a implantação da Hidrovia Uruguai-Brasil. Ainda na área de infra-estrutura, os mandatários examinarão as possibilidades de cooperação em energia e a construção da linha de transmissão elétrica entre os dois países. Durante a visita, também será criado um novo mecanismo para coordenar a cooperação em ciência, tecnologia e inovação.

Está prevista a assinatura de acordos e memorandos de entendimento sobre iniciativas que já se encontram em andamento e novas áreas que ampliarão o horizonte temático do relacionamento bilateral. Os acordos incluem ciência e tecnologia, cooperação para a instalação de laboratórios de conteúdos de TV Digital e aplicações interativas no Uruguai, um plano de ação conjunto relativo à massificação do acesso à internet em banda larga e diversos documentos nas áreas de cultura, saúde, segurança pública e habitação.

O Brasil consolidou-se nos últimos anos como principal destino das exportações uruguaias e o principal fornecedor do Uruguai. Em 2010, o intercâmbio bilateral ultrapassou os US$ 3 bilhões, o que representou um aumento 19,4% em relação ao ano anterior. O intercâmbio comercial foi equilibrado, com aproximadamente o mesmo valor de US$ 1,5 bilhão tanto de exportações para o Uruguai quanto de importações provenientes do país vizinho.

         President Dilma Rousseff will make a working visit to Montevideo on 30 May, to follow up on the dialogue with President José Mujica about comment interest issues.

         In addition to reviewing issues in the global and regional agenda, the two Presidents will address the main ongoing projects in the bilateral agenda.  The Presidents will pay special attention to the series of infrastructure initiatives and works that aim at imparting greater momentum to the integrated development process of northern Uruguay and the southern half of Rio Grande do Sul, particularly the construction of a new bridge over the Jaguarão River, the reactivation of the railway connection and the implementation of the Uruguay-Brasil Waterway.  Also in the infrastructure domain, the two leaders will go over the possibilities for cooperating on energy and the construction of a power transmission line between the two countries.  During the visit, a new mechanism to coordinate cooperation in science, technology and innovation is expected to be created.

          A number of agreements and memoranda of understanding on ongoing initiatives and new areas that will broaden the range of areas in the bilateral relations are expected to be signed.  The agreements cover science and technology, cooperation for the establishment of content laboratories for Digital TV and interactive applications in Uruguay, a join action plan to offer greater broadband internet access and several documents on culture, health, public security and housing.

Brazil has established itself in the last few years as the main destination for Uruguayan exports and as Uruguay’s main supplier.  In 2010, bilateral exchange exceeded US$ 3 billion, a 19.4% increase in relation to the previous year.  Trade exchange was balanced, with approximately US$ 1.5 billion in exports to Uruguay and imports from the neighboring country.
