A Diretora Executiva da ONU Mulheres (Entidade das Nações Unidas para a Igualdade de Gênero e o Empoderamento da Mulher), Michelle Bachelet, realizará visita ao Brasil entre os dias 14 e 16 de dezembro.

No dia 15 de dezembro, a Diretora-Executiva manterá reunião, em Brasília, com a Presidenta Dilma Rousseff, ocasião na qual tratará de temas ligados a políticas públicas brasileiras para a igualdade de gênero, projetos de cooperação e o papel da mulher nas Operações de Paz das Nações Unidas e nas Forças Armadas.

Michelle Bachelet também proferirá palestra na III Conferência Nacional de Políticas para as Mulheres e terá reuniões com representantes da sociedade civil, parlamentares e Ministros de Estado, entre os quais Iriny Lopes, da Secretaria de Políticas para as Mulheres, Tereza Campello, do Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social e Combate à Fome, e Luíza Bairros, da Secretaria de Políticas para a Promoção da Igualdade Racial.

No Rio de Janeiro, a Diretora-Executiva da ONU-Mulheres visitará o Centro Conjunto de Operações de Paz do Brasil (CCOPAB) e encontrará o Ministro da Defesa, Celso Amorim, para tratar do tema “mulheres, paz e segurança”.

A ONU Mulheres foi criada em 2010, e está em funcionamento desde 1º de janeiro de 2011.

The Executive Director of UN Women (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women), Michelle Bachelet, will visit Brazil from 14 to 16 December 2011.

On 15 December, in Brasília, the Executive Director will hold a meeting with President Dilma Rousseff, when they will discuss issues related to Brazilian public policies for gender equality, cooperation projects and the role of women in the United Nations Peace Operations and in the Armed Forces.

Michelle Bachelet will also deliver a lecture at the 3rd National Conference of Policies for Women and hold meetings with representatives from civil society, members of the National Congress and Ministers of State, among them Iriny Lopes, of the Secretariat for Women’s Policies, Tereza Campelo, of the Ministry of Social Development and Fight against Hunger, and Luíza Barros, from the Secretariat for the Promotion of Racial Equality.

In Rio de Janeiro, the UN Women Executive Director will visit the Brazilian Peacekeeping Joint Operations Center (CCOPAB) and meet the Minister of Defense, Celso Amorim, to discuss issues related to “women, peace and security”.

The UN Women was created in 2010 and has been operating since 1 January 2011.
