O Governo brasileiro acolheu com interesse o anúncio de que o diálogo direto entre israelenses e palestinos será retomado no início de setembro.

Apenas por meio da negociação e do entendimento será possível alcançar uma solução justa e definitiva para o conflito israelo-palestino. Essa solução deverá contemplar a criação de um Estado Palestino independente, democrático, coeso e economicamente viável, convivendo em paz e segurança com Israel, e deverá basear-se no Mapa do Caminho, nos princípios de Madri, nas resoluções do Conselho de Segurança e na Iniciativa Árabe de Paz.

O Brasil conclama as partes a se absterem de ações que prejudiquem a manutenção de um ambiente propício ao diálogo. Nesse sentido, o Governo brasileiro tomou nota das manifestações de ambas as partes, especialmente no que toca às expectativas palestinas quanto ao congelamento de construções em assentamentos em territórios ocupados.

The Brazilian Government has welcomed the announcement that the direct dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians will be resumed in the beginning of September.

A fair and ultimate solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can only be reached through negotiation and understanding. That solution must involve the creation of an independent, democratic, united and economically viable Palestinian State, to coexist alongside Israel in peace and security. The solution must also be based on the Road Map, on the Madrid Principles, on the Security Council resolutions and on the Arab Peace Initiative.

Brazil calls on the parts to refrain from actions that may jeopardize a favorable environment for dialogue. In this regard, the Brazilian Government has noted the declarations by both parties, especially concerning the Palestinian expectations in relation to the freeze on settlement building in occupied territories.
