Restabelecimento das relações diplomáticas entre a Venezuela e a Colômbia

O Governo brasileiro tomou conhecimento, com grande satisfação, do restabelecimento das relações diplomáticas entre a Venezuela e a Colômbia, resultante da reunião entre os Presidentes Hugo Chávez e Juan Manuel Santos, realizada hoje, na cidade colombiana de Santa Marta.
O Governo brasileiro congratula-se com os Governos da Colômbia e da Venezuela pela decisão, que abre nova oportunidade para a retomada do dinamismo e do entendimento que historicamente caracterizam as relações entre os dois países.
O Brasil saúda a decisão também pela importância do diálogo entre Caracas e Bogotá para o avanço da integração sul-americana. Nesse contexto, o Governo brasileiro manifesta seu apreço pelas gestões empreendidas pelo Secretário-Geral da UNASUL, Néstor Kirchner, para a promoção do entendimento entre a Venezuela e a Colômbia.
O Brasil reitera sua disposição de seguir cooperando – por meios bilaterais e no âmbito da UNASUL – com as autoridades venezuelanas e colombianas para consolidar esta nova etapa de diálogo, em benefício da paz e da prosperidade regionais.

Reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Colombia
The Brazilian Government has learned, with great satisfaction, of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Colombia, as a result of the meeting held today between President Hugo Chavez and Juan Manuel Santos in the Colombian town of Santa Marta.
The Brazilian Government congratulates itself with the Governments of Colombia and Venezuela on the decision, which presents a new opportunity to resume the thriving and close ties that have historically characterized the relations between the two countries.
Brazil also hails the decision due to the importance of dialogue between Caracas and Bogota for the advancement of South American integration. In this context, the Brazilian Government wishes to express its appreciation for the negotiations carried out by UNASUR’s Secretary-General, with a view to fostering understanding between Venezuela and Colombia.
Brazil reiterates its willingness to continue to cooperate – through bilateral channels and within UNASUR – with Venezuelan and Colombian officials so as to consolidate this new stage of dialogue, towards peace and prosperity in the region.
