A Assembléia Geral das Nações Unidas decidiu, por aclamação, no dia 21 de junho, indicar Ban Ki-moon para servir um segundo mandato consecutivo como Secretário-Geral da Organização, no período de 1º de janeiro de 2012 a 31 de dezembro de 2016.

Ao congratular o Secretário-Geral das Nações Unidas por sua indicação para um segundo mandato, o Governo brasileiro reafirma seu comprometimento em cooperar com o SGNU no encaminhamento de questões-chave da agenda internacional, como a realização da Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre Desenvolvimento Sustentável (Rio+20), a solução política das crises no norte da África e no Oriente Médio, o cumprimento das metas de desenvolvimento do milênio e o processo de reforma e fortalecimento das Nações Unidas.

The General Assembly of the United Nations decided, by acclamation, on June 21, to appoint Ban Ki-moon to serve a second consecutive term as Secretary-General of the UN for the period January 1st, 2012 to December 31, 2016.

In congratulating the Secretary-General of the United Nations on his appointment to a second term, the Brazilian Government reaffirms its commitment to cooperating with the UNSG in addressing key issues on the international agenda, such as the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio +20), the solution to political crises in North Africa and the Middle East, the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and the reform and strengthening of the United Nations.
