Nesta terça-feira, 30 de novembro, o Ministro Celso Amorim estará em Washington, nos Estados Unidos, onde participará de cerimônia de premiação dos “100 pensadores globais” (global thinkers) de 2010, escolhidos pela revista Foreign Policy. Segundo a publicação, o Ministro Amorim foi incluído como sexto nome na lista por “transformar o Brasil em um ator global”. A cerimônia acontecerá às 18h00 na Corcoran Gallery of Art. Em seguida, o Ministro Amorim, o Chanceler turco Ahmet Davutoglu, o Senador norte-americano John Kerry e outros agraciados debaterão temas ligados ao papel dos países emergentes em questões de energia.

Às 15h00 do mesmo dia, na sede da organização Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, o Ministro Amorim participará, ao lado do colunista Thomas Friedman, do The New York Times, de debate intitulado “The New Geopolitics: Emerging Powers and the Challenges of a Multipolar World” (“A Nova Geopolítica: Potências Emergentes e os Desafios de um Mundo Mulipolar”).

Minister Celso Amorim to receive Foreign Policy Magazine award – Washington, 30 November 2010

On Tuesday, 30 November 2010, Minister Celso Amorim will be in Washington, D.C., where he will attend the award ceremony for the 2010 global thinkers, chosen by Foreign Policy Magazine.  According to the publication, Minister Amorim made 6th place in the list for “for transforming Brazil into a global player”. The ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Later on, Minister Amorim, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, United States Senator John Kerry and other awardees will discuss issues related to the role of emerging markets on energy matters.

At 3 p.m. on the same day, at the headquarters of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace organization, Minister Amorim will take part, alongside New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, in a debate entitled “The New Geopolitics: Emerging Powers and the Challenges of a Multipolar World”.
