O Presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva e o Ministro Celso Amorim enviaram hoje as seguintes mensagens ao Governo do Suriname, em razão do falecimento de sete mineiros surinameses no Departamento de Sipaliwini:
O Presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva enviou a seguinte mensagem ao Presidente do Suriname, Desiré Delano Bouterse:
“Senhor Presidente,
Tomei conhecimento, com grande pesar, do acidente ocorrido no último dia 20, que levou ao falecimento de sete mineiros surinameses no Departamento de Sipaliwini.
O Governo brasileiro coloca-se à disposição para colaborar com os esforços de busca que ainda estão sendo levados a cabo no local do acidente.
Em meu nome e em nome do povo brasileiro, quero transmitir a Vossa Excelência, ao povo surinamês e, em especial, às famílias das vítimas, votos de consternação e solidariedade.

O Ministro Celso Amorim também enviou mensagem ao Ministro das Relações Exteriores do Suriname, Winston Lackin:

Foi com grande pesar que recebi a notícia do falecimento de sete mineiros em acidente ocorrido no dia 20 de novembro, no Departamento de Sipaliwini.
Neste momento de luto nacional, envio minha solidariedade e condolências a Vossa Excelência, aos cidadãos surinameses e, em especial, aos familiares das vítimas.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Minister Celso Amorim sent today the following messages to the Government of Suriname on the death of seven Surinamese miners in the Department of Sipaliwini:
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sent the following message to the President of Suriname, Desiré Delano Bouterse:
“Mr. President,
I was saddened to learn of the accident that happened on 20 November 2010, which caused the death of seven Surinamese miners in the Department of Sipaliwini.
The Brazilian Government is at your disposal to assist with the ongoing search and rescue efforts at the accident site.
On my behalf and on behalf of the Brazilian people, I offer Your Excellency and the Surinamese people – in particular the families of the victims – our condolences and solidarity.
