Os Chanceleres de Argentina, Bolívia, Chile, Colômbia, Peru, Uruguai e Venezuela; os Vice-Chanceleres do Brasil e do Paraguai; o representante da Chanceler da Guiana; e o representante do Secretário-Geral da Unasul deslocaram-se a Quito, em cumprimento ao disposto pelos Chefes de Estado e de Governo da UNASUL na Reunião Extraordinária realizada em Buenos Aires, no dia 1º de outubro corrente, em razão da tentativa de golpe de estado na República do Equador.

Os Chanceleres reuniram-se com o Presidente do Equador, Rafael Correa Delgado, para expressar-lhe pessoalmente, em nome de seus mandatários, o pleno respaldo da região, assim como o forte compromisso pela preservação da democracia, do estado de direito, da ordem constitucional, da paz social e do irrestrito respeito aos direitos humanos.

Os Chanceleres entregaram ao Presidente Correa uma cópia da Declaração de Buenos Aires e destacaram a decisão dos Presidentes da UNASUL de adotar medidas concretas e imediatas contra países em que ocorram casos de ruptura da ordem constitucional.

O Presidente Correa agradeceu o respaldo imediato e incondicional dos mandatários da UNASUL, bem como subscreveu todo o conteúdo da Declaração de Buenos Aires.

The Foreign Ministers of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela; the Vice Foreign Ministers of Brazil and Paraguay; the representative of the Foreign Minister of Guiana; and the representative of the Secretary-General of Unasur went to Quito, abiding by the decision of the Heads of State and Government of Unasur at the Extraordinary Meeting held in Buenos Aires, on October 1, 2010, in view of a coup d’état attempt in the Republic of Ecuador.

The Foreign Ministers held a meeting with the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa Delgado, to express in person, on behalf of their leaders, the full support of the region, as well as their strong commitment to preserve democracy, the rule of law, the constitutional order, the social peace and the utmost respect to the human rights.

The Foreign Ministers handed a copy of the Buenos Aires Declaration to President Correa and highlighted the decision by the Presidents of Unasur to adopt concrete and immediate measures against countries in which ruptures of the constitutional order take place.

President Correa thanked the immediate and unconditional support by the Heads of State and Government of Unasur, as well as subscribed to all the content of the Buenos Aires Declaration.
