Brazil-Serbia diplomatic relations have been positive since their establishment, in 1939, when Brazil opened its Embassy to the former Kingdom of Yugoslavia, in Belgrade. The Serbian diplomacy recalls, with pleasure, the Brazilian cooperation with the Non-Aligned Movement as an observer.

The Embassy of Brazil in Belgrade remained opened during the Balkans 1990's conflict, even during the NATO bombings against that city. When the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro was dissolved, Brazil and Serbia established full diplomatic relations (June 22nd, 2006). The "Brazil-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Groups ", established in the Serbian parliament and in the Brazilian National Congress, have proved to be an important bilateral dialogue channel.
