Republic of Malawi
Diplomatic relations between Brazil and Malawi have gained momentum in recent years, especially after the visit of President Bingu Wa Mutharika to Brazil (2009). The opening of the resident Embassies of Malawi in Brasília (2010) and of Brazil in Lilongwe (2013) shows the willingness of both countries to strengthen ties of cooperation, trade and investments.
Bilateral cooperation involves the dialogue on public policies regarding HIV/AIDS and agriculture, especially the cultivation of cotton. From an economic point of view, the Brazilian investment flow is growing – a Brazilian company, for example, is currently building a railroad in the country.
