Republic of Singapore

Brazil and Singapore established diplomatic relations in 1967, and the Embassy of Brazil was established in 1979. In 2013, on the occasion of visit to Brazil of the Foreign Minister of Singapore, K Shanmugam, the Embassy of Singapore in Brasília was inaugurated, the only resident diplomatic mission of Singapore in Latin America.

Originally focused on trade issues, the bilateral agenda was expanded and now includes partnerships in shipbuilding, port and airport logistics, education, science, technology, and innovation.

In 2017, Singapore was the main destination for Brazilian exports among the countries that are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with imports of Brazilian products reaching 2.734 billion dollars. In the same year, Brazil ran a bilateral trade surplus with Singapore of 2.088 billion dollars.
