Commonwealth of Dominica
Brazil and Dominica established diplomatic relations on April 9, 1986. With the visit of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to Brazil, during the Brazil-CARICOM Summit, bilateral relations have been boosted, with emphasis on political dialogue and technical cooperation.
In November 2013, the director of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) conducted visit to the country, accompanied by representatives of EMBRAPA and the National Water Agency (ANA). In July 2014, a Basic Agreement on Technical Cooperation was signed between the Governments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
As part of the initiative "Strengthening Water Resources Management in Caribbean Countries", a training course for Caribbean technicians in the conservation of water and soil as well as in the governance and management of water resources was held in October 2014. Between March and May 2015, a training course in hydrometeorology was held in Dominica, with emphasis on the monitoring of surface water.
In the context of the serious losses caused by the passage of the Tropical Storm "Erika" through the country, in August 2015, the Brazilian government has donated medicine and equipment for emergency assistance to those affected by the storm.
III. Chronology of Bilateral Relations
2008 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Dominica participates in the Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean (CALC) in Costa do Sauipe - BA
2009 – Creation of the Embassy of Brazil in Roseau, capital of Dominica. Until then, Brazilian interests in that country were represented by the Brazilian Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago
2010 – The Prime Minister of Dominica represents his country at the First Summit Brazil-CARICOM in Brasilia
2015 – Visit to Brazil of the non-resident ambassador of Dominica, Jennifer Aird
