On 14 March 2011, Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will participate in the “Brazil-Uruguay: opportunities for productive integration and bilateral trade” business conference, at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP). The event will be attended by the President of Uruguay, José Alberto Mujica, by Uruguayan Ministers - including Foreign Minister Luis Almagro - and by Brazilian and Uruguayan businesspeople from different sectors.
Besides accompanying President José Mujica during his activities at FIESP, Minister Patriota will hold a working meeting with Minister Almagro. On the occasion, the Foreign Ministers will go over the main issues in the bilateral agenda.
The conference’s program includes a seminar with presentations on the business environment in Uruguay and the development outlooks in the following sectors: automotive, naval, renewable energies, livestock, agriculture and biotechnology. A multisectoral business round will also be held, when businesspeople will seek to explore concrete opportunities for expanding trade investments and joint ventures between companies from both countries.
Brazil is Uruguay’s main trade partner. In 2010, bilateral exchange reached US$ 3.1.billion, a 19.4% increase in relation to 2009.
