The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan, Ali Ahmed Karti, will visit Brasília on June 20, 2013, when he will be hosted by Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota. The visit of Minister Ali Karti to Brazil also includes meetings at FIESP and BNDES.
The second visit of the Sudanese Foreign Minister to Brazil in less than three years is part of the intensification of bilateral relations, in light of the recent rescheduling of the Sudanese debt with Brazil and the prospects for cooperation in areas such as agriculture and energy.
The Sudanese cotton industry already has a partnership with the Brazilian private sector, with potential expansion to crops such as sugar, corn and rice, among others. Moreover, Sudan has been exporting ethanol with Brazilian technology.
The Ministers will also examine issues on the multilateral agenda.
Bilateral trade has increased fivefold in the past decade, from US$ 15 million in 2002 to US$ 82 million in 2012.
