The Brazilian Government trusts that the fellow nations will follow a path of political evolution that meets the expectations of their people in a peaceful environment, bereft of foreign interference, so as to foster the ongoing economic and social development.
Brazil and the other South American countries have been engaged in growing cooperation with Arab countries. On 16 February 2011, in Lima, Peru, the 3rd South America – Arab Countries Summit (ASPA) will be held. It will present an opportunity to renew dialogue with leaders from the region.
Egypt is an important Mercosur partner (a free trade agreement was signed in 2010). The bloc has broadened its relationship with Arab countries, as attested by the ongoing negotiations with Jordan, Syria and Palestine.
