The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mauritania, Hamadi Ould Hamadi, will visit Brazil between December 17 and 19. It is the first bilateral visit of a Mauritanian Foreign Minister to Brazil.
In Brasília, on December 17, Minister Hamadi will hold meetings with Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota. The Foreign Ministers will review the main issues on the bilateral agenda and the security situation in Western Africa. They will also address multilateral affairs, following up on the dialogue initiated when Minister Patriota visited Nouakchott, in April 2012.
Bilateral trade between Brazil and Mauritania, at US$ 19.57 million in 2003, reached US$ 160.25 million in 2011. Between January and November 2012, the trade flow amounted to US$ 167.84 million, the highest figure ever recorded. Brazil is the fifth largest exporter to Mauritania.
