Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will travel to Washington on 23 and 24 October, where he will attend the 4th edition of the Brazil-USA Global Partnership Dialogue. Created in 2010, the Global Partnership Dialogue (DPG) brings greater political momentum to joint initiatives on education, science, technology, innovation, social inclusion and the fight against discrimination.
On 24 October, Minister Patriota will hold a working meeting with the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, with the Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, and with the National Security Advisor, Thomas Donilon.
On the previous day, the Political Undersecretaries, Ambassador Edileuza Reis and Ambassador Paulo Cordeiro, will meet the State Department counterparts to hold thematic talks on Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
In 2011, Brazilian exports to the United States totaled US$ 25.8 billion, a 33.7% increase over 2010. The country remained the second major destination for Brazilian exports, with a 10.1% share. The United States are the second largest market for Brazilian manufactured products, with US$ 11.7 billion in sales in 2011, which adds up to 45.3% of the export mix. The United States have the largest Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) stock in Brazil, with a total of US$ 104 billion in 2010, nearly half of which (US$ 55.4 billion) entered Brazil between 2001 and 2011, according to the Brazilian Central Bank.
