The Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Cabo Verde, Dr. Jorge Alberto da Silva Borges, will visit Brazil on October 22, when he will have a work meeting with Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota.
The Ministers will examine bilateral affairs, especially those related to technical cooperation on health, agriculture and livestock, banking system and pharmaceutical and food regulation. They will also review regional affairs, with special attention to Western Africa, cooperation within the Community of Portuguese-Language Countries and the South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone.
The economic relationship with Cabo Verde has been enhanced significantly in recent years: bilateral trade rose by 475% between 2002 and 2011, from US$ 5.6 million to US$ 32.2 million. Cape Verde's debt restructuring, approved by the Federal Senate in March 2010, enables the country to request lines of credit in order to receive Brazilian investments.
