2- COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE UNION OF SOUTH AMERICAN NATIONS ON THE CONTINUATION OF THE POLITICAL DIALOGUE IN VENEZUELA


Communiqué of the Union of South Amercina Nations on the Executive Order of the Government of the United States concerning Venezuela *


The Member States of the Union of South American Nations express their rejection of the Presidential Decree of the Government of the United States of America, approved on March 9, 2015, for being a threat of interference to the sovereignty and the principle of Non-Intervention in the internal affairs of other States.


The Member States of UNASUR reaffirmed their commitment to International Law, the Peaceful Solution of Conflicts and the principle of Non-Intervention and call on both Governments to abstain from applying coercive unilateral measures that violates International Law.


UNASUR calls on the Government of the United States of America to evaluate and put in practice alternatives for the dialogue with the Government of Venezuela under the principle of respect to sovereignty and self-determination of peoples. It calls therefore for the derogation of this Executive Decree.

Communiqué of the Union of South American Nations on the Continuation of the political dialogue in Venezuela*


The Member States of UNASUR renewed the mandate of the Council of Foreign Ministers on the basis of Resolution 02/2014 to carry on monitoring, with the support of the Secretariat General, the broader political dialogue with all Venezuelan democratic forces, with full respect to the institutional order, to human rights and to the Rule of Law.

 

The Member States of UNASUR declared that the internal situation in Venezuela should be solved within the democratic mechanisms provided by the Venezuelan Constitution.


The Member States of UNASUR expressed their support for the celebration of the next parliamentary elections, convinced of the importance of preserving the constitutional order, democracy and the fullest exercise of all human rights, fundamental principles of UNASUR.
