The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, will make an official visit to Paraguay on March 12 and 13. The Minister will be received by President Horacio Cartes and will meet Foreign Minister Eladio Loizaga and other authorities of the Paraguayan Government, with whom he will examine priority projects of the bilateral relationship, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, trade and investment.
The visit reaffirms the strategic nature of the relationship with Paraguay and the excellent high-level understanding between the two Governments. Besides being founding members of MERCOSUR, Paraguay and Brazil share, since 1982, a key project of economic and social-environmental development: Itaipu Binational, one of the world's largest hydroelectric power plants in power generation.
Bilateral trade reached US$ 4,4 billion in 2014 – the highest figure ever registered. Trade flow between the two countries grew 94% in the last five years.
