It was with deep sorrow and indignation that I learned of the bloody and intolerable terrorist attack occurred this Wednesday, Jan. 7, on the headquarters of the magazine "Charlie Hebdo", in Paris. This act of barbarism, in addition to the regrettable loss of human lives, is an unacceptable attack on a fundamental value of democratic societies – the freedom of the press.
In this moment of pain and suffering, I wish to convey my condolences to the families of the victims. I also want to express the solidarity of my government and of the Brazilian nation to President Hollande and to the people of France.
