The President of the Republic of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, will make an official visit to Brazil on June 12, and will be hosted by President Dilma Rousseff. This will be the first visit of the Chilean President to Brazil since she was inaugurated as President, for the second time, last March 11th.
The Heads of State will address the major themes on the bilateral agenda, particularly those related to energy cooperation, physical integration, trade and investment. Regional and multilateral issues will also be examined.
On the occasion of the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding for exchanging information on human rights violations during the military regimes in both countries will be signed. In Brazil, the agreement will support the activities of the National Truth Commission.
Brazil is the main destination for Chilean investments in the world, with a stock of US$ 24.6 billion. Brazilian investments have also increased their presence in Chile, especially in energy, financial services, food, mining, steel and construction.
Total trade with Chile, which reached US$ 8.8 billion in 2013, is Brazil's third largest with a Latin American country. Over the past four years, the exchange between the two countries has increased by 65.3%.
