The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), Sandra Honoré, will visit Brasília on March 9-11. On March 10, she will meet with the Minister of External Relations, Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, with the Defense Minister Celso Amorim, and with other Brazilian officials.
The visit of the Special Representative provides an opportunity to exchange information about the ongoing reconfiguration of MINUSTAH.
Since 2004, at the invitation of the United Nations, Brazil has been charged with the military command of MINUSTAH. In addition to contributing to the mission of the United Nations, Brazil has sought to strengthen its economic, technical and humanitarian cooperation with Haiti.
