The Minister of External Relations, Ambassador Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, will make a working visit to Spain on March 17-18, 2014. He will be received by the President of the Government of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, and will meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel García- Margallo.
During the meeting with Minister García-Margallo, the Brazil-Spain Ministerial Committee on Political Dialogue will be established and partnerships in education, defense, science, technology and innovation, as well as bilateral trade flows and investments, will be discussed.
Under the program "Science without Borders", about 2900 scholarships were granted to Brazilian nationals to study at Spanish universities.
Over the past decade, trade flows increased by 154% to US$ 8.03 billion in 2013, a record amount of commercial exchange. Brazil is the main target of recent Spanish investment in the world, and Spain is the second largest end-investor in Brazil.
