The Minister of External Relations, Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, will visit Germany on March 21st. In Berlin, the Brazilian Foreign Minister will hold a working meeting with the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The Foreign Ministers will examine the deepening of the Germany-Brazil Strategic Partnership. They will address the enlargement of bilateral trade flows and investments and will review the main themes on the bilateral agenda, including cooperation in innovation, education, energy and defense.

They will also discuss the reform of global governance institutions and issues on the international peace and security agenda, as well as themes related to the environment and electronic communications security. In December 2013, the UN General Assembly adopted, by consensus, the resolution The Right to Privacy in the Digital Age, jointly drafted by Brazil and Germany.

In 2013, trade between Brazil and Germany reached US$ 21.7 billion. Germany is Brazil's main trading partner in Europe and its fourth trade partner in the world. The two countries have been working together with a view to enhancing cooperation between small and medium enterprises and strengthening applied research to industry. Over 1,200 German companies are established in Brazil.
