Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will hold a meeting with the Minister of External Relations, International Trade and Worship of Argentina, Héctor Timerman, on 2 January 2011. The Argentine Foreign Minister will be the first foreign official to be received by the new Minister of External Relations of Brazil.
Brazil and Argentina maintain a strategic relationship with a wide-ranging dialogue and cooperation agenda. Joint initiatives cover areas such as spatial technology and peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
Brazil is the main destination for Argentine exports and the main supplier of products to the Argentine market. In 2010, bilateral trade surpassed the historical record of US$ 32 billion, reached in 2008, approaching US$ 34 billion. Around 95% of the Brazilian exports to Argentina are manufactured products.
