The Brazilian government has learned with deep sorrow of the earthquake that hit eastern Turkey on January 25, killing more than 30 people and injuring thousands more, in addition to causing material damage.
So far, there is no record of Brazilians among the victims of the earthquake. The Brazilian government expresses its condolences to the families of those killed and its solidarity with the people and government of Turkey.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor the situation through the Embassy of Brazil in Ankara and in coordination with the Consulate General of Brazil in Istanbul and the Consular Assistance Division, in Brasília.
