The Government of Brazil strongly condemns the acts of violence perpetrated by the illegitimate regime of dictator Nicolás Maduro, on February 23, on the Venezuelan borders with Brazil and Colombia, which killed many people and injured dozens more. The use of force against the Venezuelan people, who is eager to receive international humanitarian aid, definitely characterizes the criminal nature of the Maduro regime. It is a brutal violation of human rights, which no principle of international law remotely justifies and about which no nation should remain silent.

Brazil calls on the international community, especially those countries that have not yet recognized Juan Guaidó as interim president, to join efforts to liberate Venezuela, recognising the legitimate government of Juan Guaidó and demanding the cessation of violence by the regime's armed forces against its own population.
