The Brazilian government vehemently condemns the attacks against ‘blue helmets’ of the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) in Beni Territory, South Kivu, on Nov. 15, and of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), in Gbambia, on Nov. 16, which led to the deaths of six Malawian and one Tanzanian MONUSCO blue helmets, and one Tanzanian MINUSCA peacekeeper.

The Brazilian government also repudiates the attack on a camp for internally displaced people in the city of Alindao, in the Central African Republic, on Nov. 15, which killed more than 40 people and injured dozens more.

Brazil expresses its condolences and sympathies to the Governments of Malawi, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania, and to  the families of the victims. It also renews its support for the works of MINUSCA and MONUSCO and the international community efforts in favor of the stabilization of the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and emphasizes the unequivocal obligation of all parties to the conflict to respect and ensure the physical integrity of the civilian population and the United Nations personnel.
