The Brazilian government has learned with deep sorrow of the seaquake that hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi on September 28, leaving hundreds dead and injured.

The Brazilian government deeply regrets the tragic seaquake and expresses its condolences to the families of the victims, its wishes of recovery to those wounded and its solidarity with the people and Government of Indonesia.

There is no record of Brazilian nationals among the victims until now. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation through its embassy in Jakarta and the Consular Assistance Division in Brasília.
