The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aloysio Nunes Ferreira, will represent the President of the Republic, Michel Temer, at the inauguration ceremony of Colombia’s President-elect Iván Duque Márquez, to be held on August 7 in Bogota.
Colombia is a strategic partner to Brazil. The two countries have a dense bilateral agenda with main themes including the Brazilian support for the Colombian peace process, trade, investment, security, border development and the process of rapprochement between MERCOSUR and the Pacific Alliance.
Bilateral trade grew by 25% in 2017 and reached 3.9 billion dollars. Manufactured products account for 92.8% of Brazilian exports to Colombia. Ninety-seven per cent of the bilateral trade portfolio have been liberalized.
In his contacts with the new Colombian government officials on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony of Iván Duque, Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira will confirm the firm and permanent disposition of the Brazilian government to work towards strengthening the bilateral relationship, promoting peace in South America, deepening regional integration and continuously boosting bilateral trade and investment.
