The ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Brazil and Canada held the Fifth Meeting of the Brazil-Canada Political-Military Dialogue (2+2 Mechanism) on June 18, 2018, in Brasília.
The meeting covered topics including peacekeeping, disarmament and non-proliferation, peace and security-related gender issues, the role of Inter-American defense institutions, regional challenges, the Arctic and the Amazon. The main themes of the bilateral defense agenda were also addressed.
The 2+2 Political-Military Dialogue between Brazil and Canada plays a fundamental role in deepening bilateral dialogue in the area of defense. In addition to the 2+2 Mechanism, the Bilateral Conference of the Chief of Army Staff and the Staff Talks between the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) are also in place.
