The Brazilian government strongly condemns today’s terrorist attacks in Afghanistan (April 30, 2018).
In Kabul, two explosions killed at least 26 people, including nine journalists, and wounded dozens more. In Kandahar, an attack apparently targeting a NATO convoy killed at least 11 children at a religious school located near the site of the explosion. A BBC reporter was killed in a third incident in Khost province.
The Brazilian government reiterates its repudiation of any and all acts of terrorism. The Brazilian government also expresses its condolences to the families of the victims, its wishes of a quick recovery to those wounded and its solidarity with the people and the Government of Afghanistan.
The Government of Brazil values the role of the press as an essential element of democracy and condemns any form of restriction of its free exercise.
