The Brazilian Government is pleased to inform that the Government the Oriental Republic of Uruguay has granted its agrément to the appointment of Antonio José Ferreira Simões as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to that country. According to the Brazilian constitution, the appointment must still be confirmed by the Federal Senate.

Antonio José Ferreira Simões has been the Ambassador of Brazil to Spain since 2015. He joined the Brazilian Foreign Service in 1982 and has been posted at the Brazilian Delegation in Geneva, the Embassy in Santiago, the Mission of Brazil to the United Nations in New York and the Embassy in Caracas. In Brazil, he has served as general coordinator for negotiations of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, secretary for Diplomatic Planning, director of the Energy Department and undersecretary general for South America, Central America and the Caribbean.
