The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, will host the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, Hanna Tetteh, on July 29, 2013. This is her first visit to Brazil since she took office as Ghana’s foreign minister last January.
The two Ministers will review the main themes of the bilateral agenda, in particular cooperation in food security, in addition to opportunities for Brazilian investments in Ghana. Several Brazilian companies run infrastructure projects in that country.
The foreign ministers will also discuss regional and multilateral themes, including the revitalization of the Zone of Peace Cooperation of the South Atlantic (ZPCSA) and the role of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in handling the crises in Guinea-Bissau and Mali.
Bilateral trade increased fourfold in the past ten years, from 84 million dollars in 2002 to 357 million dollars in 2012.
