The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that three Brazilian nationals were rescued this morning in Dominica, a caribbean country hit by Hurricane Maria.

The Brazilian government expresses its gratitude to the Government of Venezuela, which, in a gesture of goodwill, provided a military helicopter for the safe transfer of the Brazilian nationals to Santa Lucia.

Brazil regrets the loss of lives and the damage caused by the hurricane, and expresses its sympathies to the victims and their families, to the people and the Government of Dominica.

The operation was coordinated in Brazil by the consular area of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by the Embassy of Brazil in Santa Lucia, in the context of assistance to those affected by the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria.
