It is with deep sorrow that the Brazilian Government has learned of the landslides today in the outskirts of Freetown, which left hundreds dead and wounded.

The Brazilian Government regrets this disaster and extends its solidarity to the wounded, the people and the Government of Sierra Leone, and expresses its condolences to the families of the victims.

There are no reported Brazilian citizens among the victims to date. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring further developments through the Embassy of Brazil in Freetown.
