It is with deep sorrow that the Brazilian Government has learned of the earthquake that struck Turkish territory and the Greek island of Kos on July 21, leaving two fatal victims and countless more injured. There is no record of Brazilian nationals among the victims.
The Brazilian Government regrets this occurence and extends its solidarity to the wounded, the peoples and the Governments of Turkey and Greece, and expresses its condolences to the families of the victims.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor further developments through the Embassy of Brazil in Ankara, the Consulate General of Brazil in Istanbul and the Embassy of Brazil in Athens, in coordination with the Division of Consular Assistence (DAC).
