The Brazilian Government has learned that the US Department of State has released, on 8 April, its annual Human Rights Report.
The Brazilian Government does not comment on the content of reports drawn up unilaterally by countries, based on domestic legislation and criteria, by means of which such countries assign themselves the task of evaluating the human rights situation around the world. Such assessments do not cover the situation in their own territories and other areas under their de facto jurisdiction.
Brazil reaffirms its full commitment to the international human rights systems, in which it takes part in a transparent and constructive manner. Brazil will remain engaged, in particular, in the Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review mechanism, created to asses the human rights situation in the United Nations member States.
