Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will make an official visit to China on March 3-4, 2011, when he will hold meetings with the Vice-President, Xi Jinping, with Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, and with the Minister of Trade, Chen Deming. The mission aims to prepare President Dilma Rousseff’s State Visit to China, in April, and her participation in the 3rd BRIC Summit, to be held in the Hainan Province.
In the meetings with Chinese officials, Minister Patriota will discuss the main items in the bilateral agenda (trade, investments and cooperation in science and technology), as well as international issues of common interest.
China is Brazil’s main trade partner, with a US$56 billion trade exchange in 2010, a 55.1% growth in relation to 2009. The balance of trade is favorable to Brazil and reached over US$ 5 billion last year. In 2010, China was the main foreign investor in Brazil.
