As part of the celebrations for the International Women's Day, the Brazilian Government announced the launch of the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security.
Coordinated by Itamaraty, the making of the Action Plan engaged the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the Ministry of Human Rights. The preparation of the document also relied on the support and participation of the UN-Women, as well as of the Igarapé Insitute, representing the civil society.
By adopting the Action Plan on the agenda of women, peace and security, the Brazilian Government reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of international peace and security, as well as to the defense of gender equity and the empowerment of all women and girls. The measure is not only aligned to the Security Council Resolutions on the matter, but also to positions historically defended by Brazil in several regional and multilateral fora, including in the creation of the UN itself.
