The Brazilian Government follows with concern the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where clashes between security forces and protesters caused the death of about 20 civilians in Kinshasa, yesterday, December 20, according to statements by senior UN officials.

The Brazilian Government welcomes the resumption, today, of the dialogue between the Government and the opposition, mediated by the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) and urges the parties involved to act in moderation and redouble efforts in order to obtain a solution, based on inclusive dialogue, for the next presidential elections in the country.

The Embassy of Brazil in Kinshasa follows the situation in the country and maintains contact with the Brazilian community living in the Congolese capital, in order to provide any assistance that may be eventually required.
