The Foreign Ministers of the Argentine Republic, Susana Malcorra, the Federative Republic of Brazil, José Serra, the Republic of Paraguay, Eladio Loizaga, and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Rodolfo Nin Novoa, convened in New York and examined the bloc's foreign trade negotiations agenda. In this respect, they emphasize the importance of advancing negotiations over the Bi-regional Association Agreement between Mercosur and the EU due to existing traditional cultural, commercial and investment ties between the two blocs and the great growth potential of trade and investment flows.
In this sense, they call on the EU countries to reaffirm their engagement in the ongoing negotiation process. The next step is to launch a new round of negotiations within the scope of the 26th Session of the Bi-regional Negotiations Committee, in Brussels, between 10 and 14 of October.
Finally, the foreign ministers reiterate their expectation that a balanced, ambitious and comprehensive agreement will be concluded as soon as possible.
